The Seniors Group is
a very active group of
parishioners ages 55
and older who meet the second
Monday
of
each month. A brief business meeting is
followed by fellowship, cards and games.

RACE FOR THE CURE SOUL SISTERS It’s time to join the Holy Souls’ Race for the Cure team. The Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure provides an opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost the battle. Of the money raised through the Race, 75 percent stays in Arkansas to fund educational programs, while the remaining 25 percent funds national research grants (none goes to overhead).
The race date is Saturday, October 16, starting at 8am in Downtown Little Rock. There are two ways to register: pick up a registration form in the church office or sign up online. Manual registration is $25 and the deadline is September 14th.

BLESSING OF TEEN DRIVERS
You are encouraged to take part in a special “blessing
of Teen Drivers” at the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday,
September 19th. People will be
in the vestibule before
Mass to collect your keys and driver’s license, bag
them, and put them in a basket so Fr Erik may bless
them and you during the Mass. Parents, encourage
your teens to be
a part of this!

The Parish Choir will be joined by Diane McVinney,
flutist, Beth Wheeler, oboist, and Elisa Williams, harpist
at the 10:00am Mass on Sunday, September 19.
Acoustic Souls will be leading the music for the 5:30
pm mass on Sunday, September 19.

Holy Sews
Ministry
Holy Sews invites you to help sew, cut out or just
support their ministry on Sunday, September 19, in
the Parish Hall from 1-4:30pm. We will be making the
beautiful layettes for stillborn babies who are too tiny
and fragile for regular baby clothes. Even if you don’t
sew, there are many other things you can do to help
this ministry fulfill its commitment to its mission.
You
can even do your part at home in your leisure time.

K of C #812 Spaghetti Dinner
The Knights of Columbus, Council 812, of Little Rock will have a Spaghetti Dinner with K of C Sausage on Sunday, September 19th from 12 noon to 5pm at the Diocese Dining Hall. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. The drawing for the $5,000 Raffle will be around 3pm.

JAMES, PETER AND JUDE: THE CATHOLIC LETTERS. Profound differences as well as intriguing similarities are discovered in these four letters, each written to strengthen Christian communities scattered across a wide region of the Roman Empire.
We invite you to join the Tuesday Evening Scripture Study Group this fall. The study is a 7 week course and will start on Tuesday, September 21st. This group meets in the Parish Hall from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

FALL 40 DAYS FOR LIFE
Holy Souls will again participate in the National 40 Days for Life Prayer campaign to end abortion. From September 22 through October 31, a silent prayer vigil will be held at LR Family Planning, Little Rock’s remaining surgical abortion facility at #4 Office Park Drive.
Vigil participants will pray from 7:00am to 7:00pm for 40 Days. Holy Souls will pray on Thursdays 10-14 and 10-28 and the morning half of Saturday 10-2. Signup sheets will be available soon. Please prayerfully consider giving one hour to take a stand publicly for the unborn and their mothers.

All current Lectors, Ushers & Eucharistic Ministers who
did not attend the Liturgical Ministers Meeting on August
24 are encouraged to attend a meeting on Saturday,
September 25th at 9am in the Church.
Anyone interested in become a Lector, Eucharistic
Minister, or Usher is also invited to attend this meeting.
Liturgical Ministers must be practicing Catholics in good
standing with the church. If you are interested in any
of these ministries, please call the Church Office. | |

Bishop’s Golf Classic
Catholic Charities Invites You…
to join Bishop Anthony Taylor at the Auction
& Cocktail Party prior to the Annual Bishop McDonald-Catholic Charities Golf Classic.
The party is on Sunday, September 19 at McDonald Hall, Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock and will begin at 6:00 p.m.

the $20 admission includes music, food and access to the Silent Auction.

Catechetical Sunday
Next weekend,
September
18 & 19, we celebrate
Catechetical Sunday. We will recognize during Mass
all who minister as catechists in our parish by
commissioning them with a special blessings. Catechists
include: Principal, Associate Principal, teachers, aides,
and administrative staff of Holy Souls School, Catholic
High, Mt. St. Mary, and public & private schools; Parish
Religious Education catechists and aides; Diocesan
Catechetical Leaders, Catechists, and Facilitators; Holy
Souls’ Youth Director and volunteers; Parish Council
Education & Formation Commission members; Vacation
Bible School leaders and volunteers; Confirmation
Team Leaders; RCIA Team Members; Instructors for
Stephen Ministry; Scripture Study Leaders; University
and College Professors; Marriage Sponsor Couples;
and Why Catholic? Group Leaders. These committed
individuals of catechesis help us to proclaim the WORD.
The second collection next weekend will go towards
religious education in the diocese and here in our
parish. Your generosity will benefit all those who seek
to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.
